I was exploring painting on textured surfaces for a while and experimenting with different combinations of paint and medium to build up these surfaces. For this painting, I started with a white panel and troweled on a thick gray plaster leaving the edges exposed. I then set up a still life in my studio and painted atop the plaster, letting bits peak out giving it a bit of fractured look. I think the imperfections make it so much more interesting! This is framed in a beautiful wide white frame with silver edges, and measures 21” square.
